The Experience
There's a certain genre of hotel review that reads like a hostage negotiation endless praise for the thread count, the infinity pool, the "untouched paradise," followed by a single buried sentence admitting the wifi didn't work. This isn't one of those. Platte Island has plenty going for it, and I'll get to that. But there are two things worth being blunt about up front, because they're the kind of thing the brochure photography very cleverly avoids showing you.
The journey itself is painless enough a domestic hop from Mahé on a small Air Seychelles plane, low enough that you can watch the atoll come into view, all turquoise and green. Arrivals are slick, the kind of "we knew you were coming" efficiency that Hilton properties at this price point should manage, and largely do.'
